Chemical Lab Technician at synthetic fuel startup scaling the UK's largest DAC plant

You will accelerate the development of carbon-neutral fuels by conducting rigorous experimental testing on Direct Air Capture (DAC) systems. Working in a state-of-the-art Bermondsey R&D facility, you will bridge the gap between hypotheses and engineering requirements, helping scale modular plants that aim to make synthetic fuels cheaper than fossil fuels.

• Support lime-based DAC experimental work through hands-on laboratory testing, complex apparatus assembly, and detailed data analysis.
• Design, build, and operate bench-scale experiments involving solid–gas reactions, including hydration, carbonation, calcination, and gas separation.
• Execute systematic test plans using Design of Experiments (DoE) principles and present critical findings to the broader R&D and engineering teams.

• 2–5 years of hands-on laboratory or pilot-scale experience within a chemical engineering, process engineering, or applied chemistry environment.
• Holds an HNC/HND, BSc, or equivalent degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with strong competence in gas-solid systems.
• Proficient in data analysis and report generation using tools like Excel, MATLAB, or Python to translate complex test outputs into actionable insights.
