Engineering Manager at AmbrookSeries A fintech rebuilding agricultural infrastructure

Ambrook is looking for an Engineering Manager to help rebuild the financial infrastructure of the American real economy. Backed by Thrive Capital and Dylan Field, Ambrook is replacing legacy paperwork with modern banking and accounting tools for farmers and industrial operators. In this hybrid role based in NY, Denver, or SF, you'll manage a growing team of 4-5 engineers, shape the product roadmap, and define a world-class, AI-native engineering culture. If you're a people-first leader who wants to see your work directly impact independent businesses rather than faceless enterprises, this is a unique opportunity to join a Series A standout at a hypergrowth stage.

Overview

Why this role stands out

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of 4-5 high-performing engineers building modern financial tools for the American agricultural industry. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will own the full employee lifecycle, influence product roadmaps, and define how a best-in-class team operates using pragmatic, AI-native workflows.

Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Own the full employee lifecycle for a significant portion of the engineering team, including hiring senior ICs, coaching, and performance management.
  • Collaborate deeply with Product and Design leadership to shape the technical roadmap and balance technical debt with rapid feature delivery.
  • Lead the team in adopting AI-native engineering practices, ensuring high architectural integrity while leveraging modern tools to solve complex data problems.

Candidate profile

Who this is a fit for

  • 2–5+ years of dedicated engineering management experience at high-growth startups (Series A–D) with a strong foundation as a former high-performing IC.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams, with a preference for management as a craft rather than being a tech lead manager.
  • Pragmatic, product-minded approach with experience in (or passion for) fintech, agriculture, or building tools that simplify complex, messy real-world data.

What makes it remarkable

Why this role is remarkable

  • Direct impact on the real economy by providing financial clarity to independent farmers, ranchers, and industrial operators who are the backbone of America.
  • High-growth Series A environment backed by top-tier investors including Thrive Capital, BoxGroup, and Homebrew, during a pivotal expansion phase beyond agriculture.
  • Mentorship from Head of Engineering Tom Woolway, who brings two decades of experience scaling massive engineering organizations at Twitter and Chainalysis.
