Senior Controls Engineer at climate tech startup building the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plants

You will own the performance and reliability of control systems for a growing fleet of synthetic fuel plants. From managing pilot operations to designing scalable architectures for 1,000x expansion, your work directly enables the transition from fossil fuels to carbon-neutral synthetic alternatives by integrating DAC systems with renewable energy.

• Design and implement scalable control architectures and standardized PLC/SCADA patterns to support a global fleet of modular fuel plants.
• Manage engineering changes and ensure rigorous compliance with safety standards including HAZOP/HAZID and IEC 61508 safety functions.
• Develop advanced remote diagnostics and fleet-wide monitoring capabilities to maintain high uptime across multi-device, multi-site deployments.

• Proven track record leading the design and commissioning of distributed control systems in hazardous, high-energy, or complex process environments.
• Expert-level proficiency in IEC 61131-3 (ST/LD/FBD, Codesys) and integration of industrial communications like Modbus TCP/RTU and OPC-UA.
• Deep experience with safety-critical standards such as SIL verification, LVD, and the Machinery Directive for CE/UKCA compliance.
