Senior Embedded Systems Engineer at carbon-sequestration synthetic fuel startup

You will architect, ship, and scale embedded systems for the UK’s largest modular synthetic fuel plant. By vertically integrating hardware and software in-house, you will help drive the 1000x scaling of DAC systems and electrolysers, making synthetic fuels cheaper than fossils to sustain life on earth through massive carbon locking.

• Design and deploy scalable system architectures and mixed-signal PCBAs for industrial I/O and communications across thousands of machines.
• Develop and test firmware using embedded C/C++, RTOS, and Yocto-based embedded Linux for modular fuel plant components.
• Integrate end-products with factory acceptance rigs, fleet management systems, and automated CI/CD pipelines to ensure robust industrial deployment.

• Expert in PCB design (Altium/KiCAD) and industrial communication protocols including Modbus (RTU/TCP), CAN bus, and OPC UA.
• Proficient in firmware development with C/C++, RTOS, and Embedded Linux (Yocto) for mission-critical industrial applications.
• Hands-on engineer experienced with functional safety standards (IEC 61508) and the hardware-software intersection of complex industrial machinery.
