VP Data & Engineering at precision medicine healthtech startup

As the senior technical leader reporting to the CEO, you will own the engineering function for a mission-driven healthtech platform. You will lead a high-impact team to build a multi-modal data platform that integrates genomics and clinical data. This player-coach role balances strategic architecture with hands-on delivery to transform complex datasets into life-saving products.

• Design and evolve a production-grade multi-modal data platform that ingests and standardizes genomics, clinical records, and patient-reported outcomes.
• Hire, coach, and retain a high-performing engineering team across backend, platform, and bioinformatics, fostering a culture of ownership and delivery.
• Partner with the SVP of Product to align technical architecture with commercial goals, ensuring data integrity and observability meet regulatory standards.

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in fast-paced startup environments with a strong background in building and operating production-grade data pipelines.
• Technical expertise in designing systems for sensitive data (PII/PHI) with a deep understanding of data governance, lineage, and secure-by-default architecture.
• A strategic "player-coach" who is comfortable navigating ambiguity and can dive into code reviews or architectural challenges alongside the team when necessary.
