Founding Product Designer at Fiddle

Fiddle is building the IDE for designers, and they need a founding designer to lead the way. Join a craft-obsessed team of three (ex-Grok, ex-GoTo) in San Francisco to build a tool that replaces static mockups with a live production codebase on an infinite canvas. If you have 2+ years of experience, a love for high-fidelity interactions, and want to own the design of the tools you use every day, this is your chance to shape the future of creative software from the ground up.

Role overview

As the Founding Product Designer at Fiddle, you will own the entire design lifecycle, from research and UX to interaction and design systems. Working alongside a small, craft-obsessed team, you’ll replace static mockups with a live, code-integrated environment, shaping the product direction and building the tools you have always wanted to use.

Fiddle is a software tool that lets product and design teams work directly with their production codebase on an infinite canvas, enabling designers to iterate rapidly, explore real components in context, and collaborate more fluidly with engineers and teammates.[13] It is positioned as a modern design environment where code is the primary design material, allowing users to inspect, manipulate, and visualize live code interfaces instead of relying solely on static mockups.[13] The platform focuses on bridging the gap between design and engineering by giving designers a way to prototype and refine experiences using the same code that runs in production, improving fidelity, handoff, and team alignment.[13]

Our team includes folks who have built evals at Grok, MMO games, guest lectured at Stanford and were listed by Adobe as a top 10 designer globally.

What you will do

  • Lead the full product design lifecycle, including user research, UX architecture, UI design, and high-fidelity interaction prototyping.
  • Work directly with founders and engineers to iterate on the core product, moving from vision to shipping production-ready PRs.
  • Define and evolve the design system for a new category of creative software, ensuring every pixel, transition, and button feels exceptional.

Who this is a fit for

  • Has 2+ years of product design experience at early-stage companies, demonstrating a portfolio that showcases elite craft and a refined aesthetic.
  • Possesses an understanding of code or experience building design tools, developer tools, or creative software to navigate a complex technical product.
  • Currently holds US work authorization and is based in (or willing to work in-person in) San Francisco to thrive in a high-bandwidth environment.

Why this role is remarkable

  • Own the design of a tool built specifically for designers, replacing static handoffs with a live IDE that integrates directly with production codebases.
  • Join a tiny, elite founding team of three (ex-GoTo, ex-Grok) where you have total ownership, standard founding equity, and a seat at the table.
  • Ship fast in a craft-obsessed culture that values strong opinions, high-fidelity interaction, and the smallest details of typography, spacing, and motion.
