You will develop AI for architectural design, treating 3D geometry and world models as core problems. This role blends research with product-grade engineering, requiring a strong spatial instinct to solve complex design challenges. Whether you come from graphics, pure ML, or architecture-to-ML crossovers, you will ship production-ready code that defines the future of spatial reasoning.
AI Researcher at Hedral Inc.
Passionate about the intersection of 3D geometry and AI? We’re looking for an AI Researcher in NYC, Austin, or Dallas who can move fluidly between research and production engineering. If you have experience in Gaussian splatting, Fourier neural operators, or physics-based simulation and want to redefine spatial reasoning, this is your chance to ship code that shapes the physical world.
About this role
Role overview
About the company
Hedral Inc. is a technology-enabled architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) design firm that uses artificial intelligence and automation to transform building design and structural engineering workflows.[2][3][5][7] The company focuses on automating the steps required to produce structural engineering outputs such as stamped drawings and 3D building models, enabling real estate developers and other clients to obtain designs significantly faster and at lower cost compared to traditional firms.[3][5] By supercharging domain experts with cutting-edge technology, Hedral aims to establish a new standard for building architecture and construction design, helping clients arrive at optimal outcomes within the constraints of physics, function, aesthetics, and environmental impact.[2][3][5][7] Its solutions target faster project delivery, reduced environmental footprint, and increased efficiency across the building design and engineering process.[3][5][7]
What you'll do
What you will do
- Develop and implement 3D generative models and neural geometry representations to solve fundamental architectural and spatial design problems.
- Design and build world models and spatial reasoning systems using LLMs and physics simulations to represent and manipulate complex 3D scenes.
- Translate research findings into high-performance, production-ready code by leveraging USD, Omniverse, and CUDA to create scalable spatial AI tools.
Who you are
Who this is a fit for
- Expertise in 3D generation, neural geometry, or Gaussian splatting, with a strong track record of shipping code or publishing high-impact research in spatial AI.
- Strong engineering habits with proficiency in Python and CUDA, ideally coming from high-signal tech environments such as NVIDIA, DeepMind, Roblox, or Unity.
- Advanced degree or professional experience in Computational Design, Architecture, or CS with a focus on physics, simulation, or geometry from top-tier institutions.
Why this role
Why this role is remarkable
- Join a well-funded Series A team at the intersection of AI and architecture, building sophisticated world models for the physical environment.
- Work in a high-caliber environment where research meets product-grade engineering, moving beyond academic papers to ship functional, real-world 3D intelligence.
- Engage with cutting-edge technologies like Gaussian splatting, Fourier neural operators, and physics-based simulations to automate complex spatial design workflows.
