Reporting to the Founding Engineer, you’ll define the delivery methodology that scales our operations from ten to thirty accounts.
Forward-Deployed Engineer at Hyground
Hyground is looking for its first Forward-Deployed Engineer to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI and enterprise infrastructure. As an early hire in a €3M pre-seed startup, you will own customer accounts end-to-end for clients like Deutsche Bahn, shipping production code to solve real-world downtime problems. If you are an SRE or Platform Engineer who loves being on the front lines, debugging complex systems, and building the playbook for a scaling AI company, this is your chance to make a massive impact.

Role overview
Hyground builds an AI agent that investigates production incidents for teams running business-critical software on Kubernetes. When an alert fires, the agent works through Kubernetes events, metrics, logs, traces and deployment history the way a senior SRE would, then hands the on-call engineer the likely causes with the evidence behind them. It runs inside the customer’s own cluster with whatever LLM they choose, reads by default and only writes with a human’s approval, which is why regulated companies can use it where a vendor-hosted tool is off the table. Deutsche Bahn, ifm and MaibornWolff run it in production, and those customers have seen incident resolution times drop by up to 80%.
The company was founded in Hamburg in 2025 by Dominik Rehbock (CEO, previously Bain & Company), Benjamin Hofmann (CPO) and Bastian de Groot (CTO). Benjamin and Bastian spent about a decade in software operations and SRE before spinning Hyground out of MaibornWolff, and the product grew out of on-call problems they saw first-hand on client projects. Hyground raised a EUR 3M pre-seed round led by Partech, with Adesso Ventures, Angel Invest and Plug and Play, announced at KubeCon Europe in March 2026, and is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified. The team is about 16 people, most of them engineers, and sells first to German and European enterprises where data sovereignty decides the deal.
What you will do
- Own the technical lifecycle of 3-4 enterprise accounts, managing everything from initial deployment on Kubernetes or VMware to incident response and renewal readiness.
- Ship production-ready adapters and workarounds within days to unblock customers, ensuring integrations with stacks like Splunk, Dynatrace, and ServiceNow meet engineering standards.
- Coach customer engineering teams to independence, moving accounts from high-touch support to self-sufficiency through pairing, workshops, and structured documentation.
Who this is a fit for
- 3+ years of experience in SRE, Platform, or DevOps roles with hands-on Kubernetes expertise and a proven ability to debug production incidents under pressure.
- Strong software engineering skills with the ability to write and ship production code across various languages and infrastructure environments like VMware or Docker Swarm.
- Professional fluency in German (C1) and English, based in Germany, and willing to travel for on-site workshops with DACH region enterprise customers.
Why this role is remarkable
- Build the delivery playbook for an AI-native startup backed by €3M in pre-seed funding and serving major enterprises like Deutsche Bahn and toom.
- Influence product development directly by serving as the primary telemetry for customer needs, with a direct line to the founders and CPO.
- Enjoy high autonomy with commit access on day one, shipping production code that immediately unblocks the world’s largest infrastructure environments.
