As employee #4 at Tekton Dynamics, you will build the intelligence layer for industrial robotics. You will work across the entire stack, from training perception models to physically installing vision sensors on robot cells. This role combines deep technical engineering with hands-on hardware integration to solve real-world welding challenges.
Founding Engineer at Tekton Dynamics
Join Tekton Dynamics as employee #4 and build the AI control layer for industrial robots alongside Oxford PhDs and former CTOs. Backed by a $6M seed from Y Combinator and the founders of PayPal and Slack, you'll work in a London industrial lab shipping physical AI that solves real-world manufacturing challenges. This isn't just a desk job—you'll be designing systems, training perception models, and installing vision sensors on the factory floor. If you're a high-trajectory engineer who wants to see your code move heavy machinery, this founding role offers meaningful equity and the chance to redefine modern fabrication.

Role overview
At Tekton Dynamics, we build the AI-powered control layer for industrial robots - starting with welding. We combine a proprietary computer vision system with AI and machine learning models to give industrial robots the ability to see, reason, and perform complex welding tasks with sub-millimeter accuracy, turning standard robots into autonomous expert welders without the need for traditional programming or teach pendants.
Our mission is to empower manufacturers of all sizes to invent and build using intelligent robots - offloading dull, dirty, and dangerous work to machines so humans can focus on higher-value tasks.
What you will do
- Design and construct core systems fusing software, hardware, and edge networks to create intelligent control for industrial robots.
- Train computer vision pipelines and optimize motion planning stacks to handle variable welding scenarios in production environments.
- Calibrate vision sensors and integrate robotic cells hands-on in the London industrial lab and at customer manufacturing facilities.
Who this is a fit for
- 3+ years of experience as a software generalist in highly technical startup environments with a proven “T-shaped” engineering skill set.
- Evidence of raw intelligence through top-tier academic results, publications, or a track record of taking products from zero-to-one.
- Comfortable debugging the “messy reality” of physical hardware, including edge compute, network redundancy, and sensor calibration.
Why this role is remarkable
- Work directly with founders who are Oxford AI PhDs and former startup CTOs on high-impact physical AI and robotics.
- Exceptional backing from Y Combinator and industry giants like the founders of PayPal, Slack, and Affirm with $6M in funding.
- True zero-to-one ownership as employee #4, building systems deployed today with real-world industry partners rather than research projects.
