- Not Disclosed + Equity
C3 is building the world’s largest virtual GPU cluster to power the next generation of autonomous AI research. You’ll work across the full stack—from kernel verification to distributed scheduling—to solve the hardest problems in GPU infrastructure.
If you have 4+ years of experience in complex systems and a passion for agentic workflows, this is your chance to shape a foundational piece of the AI compute layer from the ground up.
Role overview
Join as a founding engineer to build a unified network for GPU computing across cloud providers. You will solve complex distributed systems challenges, develop custom container runtimes, and verify GPU kernels to support automated research at scale. Working alongside a technical founder, you’ll shape the architecture and future of GPU infrastructure.
About C3
The next breakthroughs in cancer, fusion energy and our understanding of the universe will be found on GPUs running experiments at massive scale. The agents running these experiments need GPUs in bursts no single cloud can supply. C3 turns the world’s fragmented GPU capacity into one network they can use: describe a job once, and C3 finds GPUs, reproduces the environment, positions the data, routes the work and meters only running time. C3 is building the infrastructure layer for automated research.
What you will do
- Design and build distributed systems to coordinate GPU workloads across multiple clouds, focusing on scheduling, fault tolerance, and data movement.
- Develop custom container runtimes and verify GPU kernel correctness to ensure secure, high-performance execution of untrusted research workloads.
- Integrate diverse GPU providers and maintain cloud infrastructure while building developer tools that enable automated research at scale.
Who this is a fit for
- Has 4+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping and maintaining reliable, production-grade distributed systems.
- Demonstrates expertise in building and utilizing custom agentic workflows to significantly enhance their own engineering productivity and output quality.
- Possesses the ambition to make C3 the infrastructure behind a substantial share of the world’s GPU computing and the persistence to succeed.
Why this role is remarkable
- Ground-floor opportunity to build the compute layer for the future of autonomous AI research and science alongside a solo-founder PhD.
- Backing from premier US and UK VCs with a fresh £5.2m pre-seed round to scale a globally distributed GPU network.
- Extreme technical ownership over the full stack, from low-level kernel verification and custom runtimes to high-level research orchestration.
