As the first full-time engineer, you will build AI systems that give Greylock's investment team a genuine edge. You'll own the development of custom agent-based workflows for market mapping and due diligence. Working directly with partners, you will prototype and ship production LLM tools that redefine how venture capital operates from the ground up.
Full-Stack AI Engineer at Greylock
Most engineers build for millions of users they’ll never meet. At Greylock, your users are sitting ten feet away, and they’re some of the sharpest investors in tech. As the firm's first full-time engineer, you'll build the AI systems that give partners like Reid Hoffman a genuine edge in sourcing and diligence. This is a rare opportunity to own a technical roadmap from the ground up at one of the world's most prestigious VC firms. If you've shipped production AI agents and have pre-founder energy, this is your chance to reshape how the next generational companies are discovered.

Role overview
We are the first partner for founders. Over 80% of our investments are the first check: Pre-Seed, Seed, or Series A. Many start on a whiteboard. Focused on AI-first companies. We partner selectively, care deeply, and strive for excellence.
We back founders who are building disruptive enterprise and consumer software companies such as: Airbnb (Nasdaq: ABNB), Abnormal Security, Adept AI, AppDynamics, Arista Networks (NYSE: ANET), CATO Networks, Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN), Discord, Dropbox (Nasdaq: DBX), Figma, Inflection, Instabase, LinkedIn, Meta (Nasdaq: Meta), Nextdoor (NYSE: KIND), Okta (Nasdaq: OKTA), Palo Alto Networks (NYSE: PANW), Roblox (NYSE: RBLX), Rubrik, and Workday (NYSE: WDAY).
What you will do
- Build and deploy custom agent-based workflows that automate complex research, sourcing, and diligence processes across the firm's portfolio and pipeline.
- Design production systems that integrate LLMs, retrieval pipelines, and structured data into tools that partners rely on for live deal evaluations.
- Sit in on deal meetings to identify workflow bottlenecks and prototype AI-driven fixes within days to enhance the investment team's decision-making power.
Who this is a fit for
- Experienced engineer with 2-5 years of experience who has successfully shipped multi-step LLM workflows or AI agents in a high-stakes production environment.
- Strong full-stack developer capable of owning the entire lifecycle from frontend and backend to data pipelines and deployment without the need for handoffs.
- Product-minded individual with pre-founder energy who thrives in ambiguity and knows when to ship quickly versus building for long-term technical durability.
Why this role is remarkable
- Direct access to world-class investors and stakeholders like Reid Hoffman, with feedback loops measured in hours rather than quarters as your users are in the room.
- High-leverage opportunity to define the firm's technical roadmap and build the AI infrastructure that identifies the next generation of tech giants like Discord or Canva.
- True founding engineer ownership where you skip the ticket queue and PMs to decide exactly what to build and how to build it for maximum impact.
