Join Skillit.com, the AI hiring platform solving the $1T labor shortage for America's data centers and infrastructure. We're looking for a product-minded Full-Stack Engineer to own features end-to-end—no PMs, no designers, just high-leverage engineering using Rails 7.2 and AI-augmented coding tools.
With $3M ARR in sight and backing from top VCs like Bow Capital and Building Ventures, you’ll build the tools that connect 200,000 craft workers with the nation's top contractors. If you want true autonomy and a chance to build the physical world's digital future, this is the role for you.
Role overview
As a Full-Stack Engineer at Skillit.com, you will take full ownership of business problems without the overhead of product managers or designers. Working with a modern Rails 7.2 stack and AI-augmented tools, you’ll design, ship, and measure features that directly drive revenue for the nation’s largest network of vetted craft workers.
About Skillit
Staffing and Recruiting / Construction · New York, United States · Series A (VC-backed)
Skillit is the first AI labor platform purpose-built for construction. We help unlock the workforce that builds America by solving the industry’s #1 challenge for 94% of contractors: access to skilled labor.
Skillit’s network of vetted craft workers and AI-powered tools transforms how teams source, screen, and schedule talent, driving radically greater efficiency while keeping human judgment at the heart of every hire.
Trusted by America’s top data center, infrastructure, and energy contractors and hundreds of thousands of the nation’s most skilled workers, Skillit is on a mission to become the AI hiring infrastructure and the brain for labor globally for the world’s best and biggest builders.
Backed by Building Ventures, MetaProp, Bow Capital, HOLT Ventures, Great North Ventures, 1Sharpe Ventures, Takeoff Capital.
What you will do
- Build and maintain end-to-end features using a Rails 7.2 monolith, Tailwind CSS, Stimulus.js, and AWS, integrating with OpenAI, Twilio, and Stripe.
- Identify core business problems through data and customer feedback, then design and execute technical solutions that move the needle on company ARR.
- Leverage AI-powered development tools to accelerate shipping speed while maintaining high standards for code quality, polish, and business logic accountability.
Who this is a fit for
- 7+ years of experience as a product engineer, with a proven track record of shipping high-quality consumer or B2B products from concept to production.
- Deep expertise in Ruby on Rails and server-rendered architecture (Stimulus/Tailwind), with an ability to stay accountable for complex business logic.
- Enthusiastic adoption of AI coding workflows (Cursor, Claude Code) and a strong sense of product “taste” when building tools for real-world enterprise users.
Why this role is remarkable
- Absolute product ownership: You decide what to build, design it, and measure its impact on revenue without being slowed down by traditional sprint planning or ticket-passing.
- High-leverage environment: Use agentic coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor to ship in days what used to take weeks, focusing your effort on business logic and judgment.
- Mission-critical impact: You are building the infrastructure that solves the primary bottleneck for America’s most vital data center, energy, and infrastructure projects.
