Full Stack Engineer at Apoha
Join the team building the Liquid Brain®—a revolutionary sensory intelligence platform that decodes molecular behavior to accelerate life-saving drug development. Apoha is looking for a Full Stack Engineer in London to bridge the gap between complex hardware and intuitive software, working alongside a world-class team from Apple, Amazon, and top-tier research institutions. If you're excited by instrument control, robotics, and shaping the DNA of a high-growth startup backed by Seedcamp and Redalpine, this is your chance to build technology that could change how we understand biological materials forever.
About this role
Role overview
About the company
At Apoha, we are building the Liquid Brain® — a programmable physical sensing platform creating rich, multidimensional fingerprints of materials to unlock faster and smarter material design. Our mission is to redefine how materials are sensed, understood, and designed across industries.
We're pioneering Sensory Intelligence by decoding molecular behaviour. The first step in our journey to giving machines the senses they never had? Building a Liquid Brain® platform capable of improving life-saving drugs, by assessing the developability of antibodies earlier (those proteins our immune system makes to fight off bacteria and viruses).
We’re a group of scientists, engineers, and operators who’ve built and launched successful products at Goldman Sachs, Apple, Amazon, and published 50+ high impact research papers across biophysics, materials science, and thermodynamics—and been featured by Scientific American as one of “13 Discoveries That Could Change Everything”.
What you'll do
What you will do
- Architect and implement major components of the Liquid Brain software stack using Next.js, Django, and Postgres to manage complex multimodal data.
- Build and test automation logic and hardware control workflows hands-on with physical devices to ensure seamless integration between software and sensory hardware.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with biophysicists and data scientists to translate intricate experimental requirements into high-quality, scalable product features and APIs.
Who you are
Who this is a fit for
- Proven full-stack engineering expertise with a track record of shipping end-to-end features using modern frameworks like React/Next.js and Python/Django.
- Direct experience building software that interacts with physical systems, such as robotics, lab automation, instrument control, or edge devices.
- Exceptional sense of agency and curiosity, comfortable navigating the ambiguity of a fast-paced startup environment to solve complex problems at the hardware-software interface.
Why this role
Why this role is remarkable
- Work at the intersection of deep tech and physical systems, building a "Liquid Brain" platform featured by Scientific American as a discovery that could change everything.
- Join a talent-dense team with pedigree from Apple, Amazon, and Goldman Sachs, backed by top-tier investors including Redalpine, Seedcamp, and Nucleus Capital.
- Shape the technical DNA of a mission-driven company where academic rigor meets startup speed, offering significant ownership over a domain-defining sensing platform.
