Role overview

Join Drafter Inc. as a Full-Stack Engineer to build the go-to-manufacturing platform for the physical world. You will own user-facing features, develop CAD integrations, and optimize 3D model interactions in a cloud-based environment. Working across Python and React, you will build tools that translate design intent into reality for space systems, robotics, and clean energy infrastructure.

Drafter is building a go-to-manufacturing platform for the world’s most critical hardware, with an AI Manufacturing Engineer that understands design intent and automates real work.

Our customers include the most exciting startups and the most established hardware orgs in the world. Drafter software supercharges efficiency and quality of mechanical teams as they move to manufacturing, reducing production cycles by months, giving engineers 30%+ of their time back for high-leverage work, and ensuring quality and standardization for the robots, energy systems, rocket ships and medical devices they bring to market.

What you will do

  • Own and develop user-facing features for interacting with 3D models and 2D representations using Python, React, and technologies like Three.js and WebSockets.
  • Partner directly with the founding team to translate complex mechanical engineering user needs into technical specifications and high-performance, scalable features.
  • Jump across the full stack as a generalist, handling everything from CAD kernel integrations to frontend performance optimization and customer cloud implementations.

Who this is a fit for

  • Possesses 2-10+ years of software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python (FastAPI/SQLAlchemy) and React/TypeScript, ideally within a high-growth startup environment.
  • Demonstrates a relentless drive for ownership and autonomy, thriving in high-intensity environments where technical decisions directly impact production cycles for critical hardware.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen based in the United States, with a willingness to travel for periodic in-person colocation weeks with a small, mighty remote-first team.

Why this role is remarkable

  • Work at the intersection of AI and hardware, building software that has a tangible impact on physical systems like surgical robots, autonomous vehicles, and rocket ships.
  • Join a small, elite team of approximately 10 experts with deep backgrounds in computational geometry and AI, offering significant ownership and the autonomy to shape the product.
  • Access top-tier benefits in the 99th percentile for startups, including comprehensive health coverage, 401k matching, and a generous equity package that ensures you win when the company wins.
