Role overview

Join Writer Inc. to own the reliability and performance of a mission-critical AI platform serving Fortune 500 giants like Uber and Vanguard. You will architect multi-cloud infrastructure, automate complex operational tasks using Python or Go, and integrate agentic AI tooling into your daily engineering workflow to scale our $1.9B platform.

Writer Inc. (branded as WRITER) is a generative artificial intelligence company based in San Francisco, California that provides a full‑stack, enterprise-grade AI platform designed to help large organizations build and deploy AI applications and agents for mission‑critical work.[1][5] Its platform focuses on “enterprise AI for agentic work,” enabling teams to automate and scale on‑brand, compliant tasks such as content creation, knowledge work, and operations while integrating with existing business systems and enforcing governance, security, and data privacy requirements.[5] Writer offers a fully integrated stack—including foundation models, orchestration, guardrails, workflows, and developer tools—so enterprises can create customized AI agents and applications tailored to their data, style, and policies without sending sensitive data to public models.[1][5] The company serves Fortune 500 and other large enterprises across industries, positioning itself as a secure, centrally managed AI layer that delivers measurable ROI from generative AI in production.[2][3][5]

What you will do

  • Own the reliability, performance, and multi-cloud infrastructure for ~100 microservices on Kubernetes across AWS, GCP, and Azure using Terraform and Helm.
  • Lead critical initiatives across SRE, DevOps, and Platform engineering, focusing on automating away toil and designing resilient, self-healing systems.
  • Drive incident response and post-mortems, tracing failures to root causes to ensure the platform meets the strict 24/7 demands of enterprise customers.

Who this is a fit for

  • Brings 5+ years of experience operating large-scale production infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters within a high-growth, fast-paced product company.
  • Possesses deep proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Pulumi) and automation programming in Python or Go, with a strong focus on “via negativa” simplicity.
  • Already integrates AI-assisted workflows and agentic tooling into their daily shipping process, with clear opinions on where these tools excel and fail.

Why this role is remarkable

  • Work at a $1.9B category leader that owns the entire AI stack—from proprietary LLMs to the orchestration layer—rather than just wrapping existing models.
  • Join a high-growth environment backed by premier investors like ICONIQ Growth and Radical Ventures, powering mission-critical workflows for companies like Mars and Vanguard.
  • Pioneer “AI in workflow” practices, using agentic tools like Claude Code and Droid to compound team throughput and redefine modern infrastructure engineering.
