Role overview
Making family care possible. At Abby Care, we are tackling one of the most important and unsolved challenges of our time: family caregiving.
Over 50 million Americans are family caregivers for loved ones without pay, tools, or support. Our mission is clear and ambitious: to train and employ family caregivers so they can get paid for the care they already provide at home.
Abby Care is building a tech-powered, family-first care platform to efficiently deliver care, improve health outcomes, and provide the best-in-class experience nationwide.
We are rapidly expanding our mission and looking for passionate team members to join. Abby Care has partnered with leading insurance plans, healthcare providers, and community organizations. We’re supported by top, mission-driven VCs to empower families throughout the country.
What you will do
- Lead end-to-end mobile development across iOS and Android, taking full ownership from technical design to delivery and performance tuning.
- Architect offline-first and resilient synchronization patterns to ensure the app remains functional for caregivers in homes with spotty connectivity.
- Define and implement a comprehensive mobile testing strategy that accounts for device variability, accessibility needs, and real-world usage scenarios.
Who this is a fit for
- 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping and debugging React Native or native mobile apps.
- Deep technical expertise in mobile fundamentals, including background execution, local storage, lifecycle management, and modern authentication patterns.
- Strong product intuition with experience building for non-technical users and a desire to work in a collaborative, fast-paced San Francisco startup environment.
Why this role is remarkable
- Join a mission-driven team backed by Sequoia, tackling a massive social problem by providing tools for the invisible backbone of the healthcare system.
- Massive ownership as the first mobile-focused hire, shaping the architecture, testing frameworks, and release cycles for a high-impact product.
- High-touch environment where your work directly improves the lives of families, combining cutting-edge AI with deeply human-centric design.
