You will lead the development of complex computational geometry features using low-level CAD kernels to automate engineering workflows for rockets, robotics, and medical devices. Working directly with the founding team, you'll bridge the gap between AI design intent and physical manufacturing by manipulating B-Rep data and optimizing kernel performance for scalability.
Senior Computational Geometer at Drafter Inc.
Help build the future of hardware manufacturing at an AI-driven startup that automates mechanical engineering for rockets, robotics, and medical devices. We are looking for a Senior Computational Geometer with deep C++ and CAD kernel expertise to lead development on our core geometry engine. If you thrive in high-intensity environments and want to work on complex B-Rep and topology challenges that give engineers 30% of their time back, this is your chance to join a founding team at the intersection of AI and physical production.

Role overview
Drafter is building a go-to-manufacturing platform for the world’s most critical hardware, with an AI Manufacturing Engineer that understands design intent and automates real work.
Our customers include the most exciting startups and the most established hardware orgs in the world. Drafter software supercharges efficiency and quality of mechanical teams as they move to manufacturing, reducing production cycles by months, giving engineers 30%+ of their time back for high-leverage work, and ensuring quality and standardization for the robots, energy systems, rocket ships and medical devices they bring to market.
What you will do
- Own the development of geometry features using C++ and Python, working directly with low-level CAD kernels like Parasolid or OpenCascade.
- Architect and implement complex back-end solutions for Boundary Representation (B-Rep) and direct modeling to process Product Manufacturing Information (PMI).
- Conduct rigorous performance testing and optimization of topology operations to ensure seamless integration into user-facing front-end features.
Who this is a fit for
- Possesses 3-7+ years of hands-on experience with geometry kernels and low-level C++ operations in a production environment.
- Demonstrates deep proficiency in CAD data structures, topology navigation, and manipulation of B-Rep or direct modeling frameworks.
- Thrives in a high-intensity startup culture that requires a relentless drive, over-communication, and the willingness to travel for in-person collaboration weeks.
Why this role is remarkable
- Impact the production of the world’s most critical hardware, from space exploration tech to life-saving medical devices, by giving engineers 30% of their time back.
- Join a high-intensity, mission-driven team that values hustle and deep technical ownership in a remote-first, high-collaboration environment.
- Work at the bleeding edge of AI and mechanical engineering, building a first-of-its-kind platform that translates design intent into real-world manufacturing instructions.
