Role overview

As the first dedicated marketing engineer, you will own the technical architecture of Close.com using Astro, Sanity, and Vercel. You’ll bridge Engineering and Marketing to build a high-performance, conversion-focused website that serves as the company’s primary acquisition funnel. Your work directly impacts revenue by optimizing performance, technical SEO, and measurement.

Close is a sales CRM platform founded in 2013 that focuses on better communication without manual data entry or complex UI. It combines CRM with built-in calling, email, SMS, automation, coaching, reporting, and an AI sales agent named Chloe that calls leads, qualifies prospects, and books meetings. Designed to double sales rep productivity, it helps startups and SMBs grow faster by prioritizing speed and ease of use. The company is 100% remote, bootstrapped, and profitable.

What you will do

  • Architect and maintain the Close.com infrastructure using Astro and Sanity to create a fast, interactive, and polished brand experience with high-fidelity animations.
  • Own the technical integrity of site measurement, ensuring tracking, attribution, and conversion events flow reliably into marketing and data systems.
  • Build self-service tools and guardrails that empower marketers and designers to ship campaigns and experiments independently without sacrificing site performance or SEO.

Who this is a fit for

  • Has 5+ years of experience building and maintaining conversion-focused websites, moving beyond simple launches to long-term technical ownership and performance optimization.
  • Possesses deep expertise in modern JS frameworks and headless CMS platforms, with a mastery of CSS for creating ambitious, motion-rich user experiences.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of measurement instrumentation and technical SEO, with the ability to implement and debug complex attribution and analytics events.

Why this role is remarkable

  • Full Technical Ownership: You are the first dedicated owner of the marketing site, transitioning it from Webflow to a custom, high-performance codebase.
  • Profitable and Independent: Work for a stable, successful business that answers to customers rather than VCs, offering rare job security and long-term thinking.
  • Unrivaled Flexibility: Benefit from a 100% remote culture including a 4-day work week option, annual international retreats, and a one-month paid sabbatical every five years.
