As a founding engineer at Delta Charge, you will lead the technical development of the company’s core control loop system. You’ll design distributed systems and optimization algorithms to manage real-time charging schedules for industrial fleets, bridging the gap between sophisticated software modeling and physical hardware assets at logistics sites across Europe.
Senior Software Engineer at Delta Charge
Delta Charge is seeking a founding-level Senior Software Engineer in Munich to own the control loop system powering electric truck fleet electrification. Led by an ex-Meta CTO and backed by a sister company with 1 GWh battery purchasing power, you'll build distributed systems that manage real-time battery optimization and grid constraints. If you want to solve complex math and engineering problems while steering heavy infrastructure toward a zero-emission future, this is your role.

Role overview
Delta Charge is a Swedish-German energy infrastructure and climate-tech company that develops, finances, builds, and operates battery-backed charging depots and industrial energy hubs across Europe for logistics and industrial customers.[1][3][5][8][10][11] The company focuses on electrifying heavy-duty truck fleets and logistics operations through depot-based charging infrastructure that combines battery energy storage systems (BESS), high-power charging hardware, intelligent energy management software, and fixed-price charging services.[1][3][5][6][7][8][9][10] By integrating grid-connected batteries with smart energy management and turnkey charging solutions, Delta Charge enables logistics and industrial companies to access affordable, predictable, and zero-carbon energy at their depots and facilities while mitigating grid-capacity constraints and reducing capex and trading risk for fleet operators.[1][3][5][6][7][8][9][10][13] Headquartered in Munich, Bavaria, with a growing presence in Scandinavia, Switzerland, and Czechia, Delta Charge is building a pan-European network of truck-charging depots and battery-enabled industrial hubs that form part of the backbone of Europe’s transition to a zero-carbon logistics and industrial economy.[1][3][4][7][8][9][10] Backed by Delta Capacity, a leading Scandinavian developer and investor in large-scale battery storage projects, the company has raised multimillion-euro seed funding to scale distributed charging and energy storage deployments and aims to deploy hundreds of millions of euros in infrastructure and deliver large volumes of clean energy annually by 2030.[4][6][7][8][10][11][13][14]
What you will do
- Architect and build the distributed systems and reliability engineering for the real-time control loop, ensuring 72-hour load forecasts translate into hardware actions.
- Develop and refine mixed-integer linear programs (MILP) and statistical models to optimize energy consumption and truck schedules under high uncertainty.
- Own the end-to-end telemetry and IoT communication stack, pulling signals from on-site hardware and pushing optimized dispatch commands back to edge devices.
Who this is a fit for
- Possesses strong professional experience building distributed systems or optimization algorithms, with a preference for engineers who have cleared the bar at firms like Meta, Google, or AWS.
- Demonstrates a founding engineer mindset with a high tolerance for ambiguity and a natural instinct for taking full technical ownership of major system components.
- Brings expertise at the intersection of software and hardware, specifically in areas like IoT, industrial communications, or applied mathematics and forecasting.
Why this role is remarkable
- Work under a high-caliber CTO (ex-Meta production engineer, West Point applied math) and take true technical ownership of a mission-critical infrastructure system.
- Leverage a massive unfair advantage in battery purchasing power through sister company Delta Capacity, providing the capital and hardware scale most startups lack.
- Directly impact EU decarbonization—8% of emissions come from road transport—by building the essential software layer for electrifying multi-billion-euro logistics fleets.
