Join a lean, 8-person team building AI-driven solutions that transform manual carbon reporting into automated intelligence. As a backend-focused or full-stack engineer, you will architect scalable infrastructure and develop agentic workflows, empowering major food businesses to move from static reporting to actionable sustainability insights at scale using Python and LLMs.
About My Emissions
Food and drink accounts for a quarter of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions. Food businesses increasingly need to measure these emissions, but traditional solutions are often slow, manual and expensive.
My Emissions uses technology to solve this problem. Using the latest AI technologies, we’re able to automate the most repetitive and time-consuming tasks, turning a 6-month project into a 5-minute task. The results are often more accurate as well. Ultimately, this allows customers to move from just reporting carbon to taking action.
We now work with 100+ food and hospitality businesses across the UK and abroad, with customers including 25+ UK universities, recognised brands like GAIL’s and Wahaca, and even UEFA, who we’ve worked with at the Champions League Final for 3 years!
What you will do
- Architect and implement core platform features, including carbon assessment dashboards and reliable calculation engines that deliver meaningful sustainability insights and great UX.
- Evolve AI-powered data ingestion and purchasing intelligence systems to transform messy, large-scale client datasets into accurate and structured emission reports.
- Drive the adoption of agentic workflows and scalable AWS infrastructure capable of onboarding new clients and processing years of purchase data in minutes.
Who this is a fit for
- Strong experience with Python development, specifically using Django or FastAPI, along with a solid understanding of relational database design and API performance.
- Practical experience building with AI technologies, such as integrating LLMs into production environments or developing complex agentic workflows and MCP tools.
- A pragmatic, product-first mindset with the ability to lead features from inception to delivery while collaborating closely with a small, high-velocity team.
