Join a high-caliber team of 17 building the future of behavioral simulation. As a Software Engineer at Electric Twin, you will own complex systems from design to deployment, orchestrating foundation models and data pipelines. You’ll tackle real engineering challenges—like system design and reliability—while shaping a product used by major organizations like The Times to predict human behavior.
Software Engineer at Electric Twin
Founded by the UK PM's former Chief Data Advisor, this Soho-based team builds digital twins of real audiences to test ideas with 95% accuracy in minutes. We're looking for owners to help scale systems that handle foundation models and population-scale simulations. With a stack including Python and TypeScript, you’ll join a high-caliber team of 17 solving complex engineering problems while enjoying meaningful equity and a culture that respects life outside of work.

Role overview
Electric Twin builds science-based synthetic populations and tools for interacting with them, enabling companies and governments to predict human attitudes and behaviour with high accuracy. Their technology creates simulations of real-world populations for rapid and scalable insights. Electric Twin was founded by the former Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister on Digital and Data and the former Director of Mass Testing, aiming to solve the problems they faced in understanding human behaviour during the pandemic. The team includes experts with backgrounds in data strategy, government, and advanced AI product development.
What you will do
- Design and build the services, data models, and APIs that power sophisticated behavioral simulation workflows using Python, FastAPI, and TypeScript.
- Take full ownership of product capabilities, collaborating closely with data scientists to turn research-validated simulations into robust, customer-facing product features.
- Shape the engineering culture and technical direction by deciding trade-offs between speed and rigor and ensuring systems are reliable, reusable, and trustworthy.
Who this is a fit for
- Demonstrates a strong track record of end-to-end ownership, having shipped meaningful products and lived with the consequences of technical trade-offs across any modern stack.
- Possesses excellent judgment under uncertainty, with the ability to reason clearly about speed versus polish and iterate quickly based on real customer feedback.
- Brings proficiency or a strong willingness to learn our stack (Python, TypeScript, React, GCP), focusing on engineering fundamentals and system design rather than specific framework mastery.
Why this role is remarkable
- Work at the frontier of AI and behavioral science with a $14M-funded team backed by world-class investors like Atomico, LocalGlobe, and Marc Andreessen.
- Tackle deep systems problems, including population-scale simulations and orchestration of foundation models, with a platform already delivering 10,000x faster results than traditional research.
- Enjoy a high-trust, low-ego environment in Soho with meaningful equity, 16% total pension matching, and a culture that genuinely prioritizes work-life balance and unlimited leave.
