Lead a specialized software team at AUAR to develop MasterBuilder, the platform orchestrating robotic home construction. You will bridge the gap between digital design and physical manufacturing, shipping code that drives real-world production. This hands-on leadership role involves shaping foundational architecture, managing delivery milestones, and scaling systems to manage global MicroFactory deployments.
Software Engineering Lead at AUAR
Want to see your code build real homes? AUAR is looking for a Software Engineering Lead in London to helm the team building MasterBuilder—the software brain behind robotic MicroFactories. This isn't just about pixels; it's about Physical AI and robotics. You’ll lead a talented group of engineers, own the technical roadmap, and work on-site at a massive 11,000 sq ft R&D facility. With a focus on sustainability and affordable housing, AUAR offers a rare chance to solve a massive real-world problem. If you have deep TypeScript/React expertise and experience leading delivery in fast-growth startups, this is your next big move.

Role overview
Automated Architecture (AUAR) is a construction technology company that develops AI-powered design-to-manufacturing software, deployable robotic micro-factories, and modular systems to automate the production of sustainable, low-carbon timber housing. It partners with homebuilders and manufacturers via a ‘No Capex’ Manufacture-as-a-Service model to enable distributed manufacturing of net-zero homes, targeting mass adoption of timber construction and automation.
What you will do
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, owning the development plan, execution, and technical roadmap for the MasterBuilder platform.
- Stay hands-on by delivering high-quality full-stack code and conducting substantive reviews to ensure architectural integrity across robotics and web environments.
- Collaborate directly with the CTO to scale systems from managing a single MicroFactory to orchestrating fifty units across diverse international construction sites.
Who this is a fit for
- Proven experience leading engineering delivery and ownership for small teams within a fast-paced startup or high-growth technology environment.
- Deep technical expertise in modern full-stack development, specifically Node.js, TypeScript, React, and Three.js, with exposure to robotics or hardware control.
- Strategic thinker comfortable working 4+ days per week on-site in London, with a passion for physical AI and real-world engineering challenges.
Why this role is remarkable
- Code with physical impact: Your work directly controls robotic arms and MicroFactories, turning digital designs into physical homes rather than just rendering data.
- Mission-driven innovation: Help solve the global housing crisis by making homebuilding faster, more sustainable, and affordable through cutting-edge Physical AI and automation.
- Inclusive leadership at scale: Join a diverse team where 50% of technical leadership are women, working from a massive 11,000 sq ft R&D facility in London.
