A pathway to qualifying as a solicitor (without the need for 2 years at law school) and/or a patent attorney is offered. Origin is regulated by the SRA and is 100% employee owned; the firm is unconventional by law firm standards. It has had an inside track on many of the most interesting technologies - current IP projects cover neurosymbolic AI, computer vision, robotic manufacturing, graphene-based biosensors, quantum transduction and more.
What you will do
- Collaborate directly with inventors and founders to identify, draft, and protect patents for breakthrough technologies across multiple scientific sectors.
- Develop comprehensive IP strategies and handle complex commercial agreements, including high-value licensing deals with global pharmaceutical and tech companies.
- Help lead the firm’s transition into an AI-first practice, utilizing and building new tools to reshape how legal services are delivered.
Who this is a fit for
- Holds a PhD or a first-class/2:1 STEM degree in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Biotech from a top-tier university.
