Principal Engineer at Openr — Azzurri Group-backed hospitality SaaS

As the most senior individual contributor, you will serve as the technical right hand to the Head of Engineering. You'll lead high-quality feature delivery across a serverless TypeScript stack, balancing technical debt with rapid scaling. This role is perfect for a hands-on architect ready to shape the infrastructure of a platform powering 1,500+ venues.

• Lead the development of complex, integration-heavy features using TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS Lambda to sync data across global delivery platforms and EPOS systems.
• Mentor a team of six engineers through code reviews, architectural guidance, and technical unblocking to maintain high delivery standards and system reliability.
• Partner with the Head of Engineering to define the technical roadmap, manage system dependencies, and translate complex product requirements into scalable serverless solutions.

• Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js with a proven track record of building and scaling event-driven architectures on AWS Lambda.
• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL and SQL database design, coupled with a strong understanding of modern frontend frameworks like React and React Query.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to navigate technical debt, mentor junior talent, and collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders in a hybrid environment.
