Attio is the platform for agentic revenue. More than 35,000 teams use it to understand every customer, automate at scale, and build their go-to-market motion exactly as they need. The company is pushing 200 people today and aims to roughly double in size by next year, hiring across the UK, Europe and the US in engineering, marketing, go-to-market and operations.
Oscar builds the engineering team at Attio, where the culture is built on curiosity and autonomy. “I work in talent, but I can pop up in a marketing or product channel to voice my opinion, and that will be heard and discussed,” he says. That kind of environment needs a particular kind of engineer: someone ambitious, AI-forward and hungry to make an impact across the business.
Finding those people is the hard part. With Jill, Oscar spends his time with candidates who already fit.
The right people, culturally
What stands out to Oscar about Jack & Jill is who’s in the network. The candidates on it tend to share the outlook Attio hires for.
“The type of people who are on Jack & Jill are often culturally the type of people that we’d be looking for. Those who are fairly AI-forward, who are looking to work at a high-growth, interesting, exciting business like Attio.”
Oscar Elliston, Attio
A CV rarely shows whether someone is genuinely hungry for a fast-moving startup. On Jack & Jill, that signal arrives before the first call. Candidates have chosen to talk to an AI career agent about what they want next, and they’ve told Jack the kinds of companies and problems that excite them. For a team like Attio’s, that’s a strong proxy for ambition and startup appetite.
Being in the network also puts Attio alongside some of the most exciting startups around, which is exactly where these candidates are looking. Each conversation starts with someone who’s already drawn to the kind of company Attio is.
A door to people who wouldn’t otherwise reply
The engineers Attio wants most are also the hardest to reach. “Often, it’s very easy to identify the person that you want to work with, but very hard to actually get an introduction,” Oscar says. Strong candidates get so many cold messages and DMs that most go unanswered.
“My favourite part about working with Jill is the access you get. She’s so present in the startup ecosystem, and she introduces you to people you wouldn’t otherwise be able to talk to.”
Oscar Elliston, Attio
That’s how Attio hired Adrian as a Senior Product Engineer. Oscar had come across Adrian before but had never managed to speak to him. When Adrian came up through Jack & Jill, Oscar asked Jill for an introduction, and they had their first conversation from there. By then, Jack had already done a lot of the work of selling Attio to him.
A sounding board that gets sharper over time
Alongside core product engineering roles, Oscar hires for specific roles like platform engineers and security engineers, and he uses Jill before a search even starts. He talks each new role through with her to benchmark it against the market, see how it will land with candidates, and get internal stakeholders aligned. “Having Jill so dialled in to this type of space and this type of work has been really, really useful for us,” he says.
Once a search is underway, Jill calibrates against candidates Oscar shares directly and against the ones she finds herself. “The more you work with Jill, and the more you hone in on a particular profile, the better calibrated she gets and the better the candidates she’ll send you.” Because she works natively in Slack, there’s very little friction, even when Oscar is juggling several roles.
For Oscar, the payoff comes after the hire. “It’s really exciting for me to see the engineers I’ve hired actually have an impact on the product, and to see our internal channels praising them and celebrating the successes of the new team.” As Attio keeps growing next year, he’s clear on Jill’s role: “Jack & Jill is going to be a really important part of that growth journey.”
