$180k-$240k + Equity

As an Applied AI Engineer, you will move beyond chat windows to create the "shared brain" for software, architecting agents that autonomously handle complex workflows, APIs, and memory.

Working from a beautiful Presidio office just steps from the beach, you’ll join an elite 15-person team moving at an incredible pace. If you have 3+ years of experience shipping production-grade LLM pipelines and want to see your work impact the world every day, this is your opportunity.

Role overview

You will build and scale the agent systems inside Sauna, Wordware.ai’s hybrid AI-software platform. This role involves architecting multi-step agents that interact with real APIs, managing state across memory systems, and owning the evaluation framework. You’ll work across the stack to ensure these agents are fast, predictable, and production-ready.

About Wordware

Software

Wordware is an AI context lab based in San Francisco that develops an IDE enabling non-technical domain experts and AI engineers to build, iterate, and deploy task-specific AI agents and applications using natural language. Originally focused on AI development tools, it pivoted in 2025 to Sauna, an intelligent AI assistant that compounds context, learns user preferences, eliminates busywork, and handles proactive automations for deep work.
