Role overview

You will build a comprehensive platform used by 1,500+ charities to manage grants, safeguarding, and reporting. Working in a high-autonomy team of 15, you’ll own features from ideation to production. This role is perfect for a capable generalist who wants to ship quality code without the friction of endless meetings or project managers.

Plinth.org.uk is a fast-growing London-based platform powering £55 million in annual charitable funding for over 1,500 organizations. By building a comprehensive system of record for the underserved charity sector—which is larger than the advertising and restaurant industries combined—they are radically increasing funding and efficiency for local organizations through AI-driven tools.

What you will do

  • Write clean, scalable TypeScript code across the full stack using React and Node.js to solve complex problems for foundations and local charities.
  • Architect and build new features like grant management systems, AI impact reporting, and safeguarding tools from initial concept to production maintenance.
  • Build sophisticated migration tools to help charities transition from manual spreadsheets and legacy systems onto Plinth.org.uk’s unified system of record.

Who this is a fit for

  • A capable generalist with multiple years of experience shipping production code and managing complex systems, ideally having owned products from end-to-end.
  • Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript is essential, with additional experience in Node.js and Elasticsearch considered a significant advantage for this role.
  • A mission-driven individual who values “childish enthusiasm” and transparency, preferably with previous experience or a deep interest in the charity or non-profit sector.

Why this role is remarkable

  • Join a high-leverage engineering culture with no PMs, no daily scrums, and a “never the delay” mentality that prioritizes shipping quality software over bureaucracy.
  • The platform is experiencing massive traction, managing £55 million in annual funding with 4x year-on-year growth and a user base of over 1,500 charities.
  • You have complete freedom to define your own role and use any AI tools you prefer, supported by a leadership team that values mission-driven output over years of experience.
