The AI outbound tools we recommend to partners in 2026

Dan Bulteel

We spend our days around founders, the products they’re building, and the AI agents they’re putting to work. Most of them are dealing with the same problem: growing the business and finding new customers. Outbound is usually how they do it, and it tells you a lot along the way about message and product fit.

The tools have changed. Most now have AI built in, and for a small team that can change the economics. One person can run the prospecting that used to take three.

Which AI outbound tool should you start with?

A good question to ask: how much of the system do you want to own?

If you want one product to run most outbound, Artisan is a sensible place to start. If you’d rather build the machine yourself and keep tight control, Clay is built for that. If your workflow already works and you mostly need data or a reliable way to send, Apollo and Instantly cover those two jobs well. And some teams now build their own system end to end, which is more realistic than it was a couple of years ago.

Whichever way you lean, it helps to run two side by side for 7 to 14 days, same audience, same offer, and compare them on reply quality and meetings booked.

How the tools compare

Artisan

For a small team picking one place to start, Artisan is where we’d usually begin. It’s built around Ava, an AI BDR that finds and enriches leads, then runs campaigns across email, social media and dialer call steps. When it’s you and a co-founder, the real benefit is consolidation. Fewer moving parts, and less time spent nursing handoffs between tools instead of talking to customers.

AiSDR

If your team lives in HubSpot, AiSDR is the natural fit. It connects to HubSpot, follows up with inbound, runs outbound prospecting, and adapts to your writing style over time.

Clay

Clay makes sense when someone on the team is ready to own the system. It gives you control over prospect data, enrichment, scoring, and routing, and it connects to more than 75 data sources. The catch is that it needs an owner. If nobody looks after it, the workflows degrade quickly, so it rewards teams who enjoy building the machine as much as using it.

Apollo.io

Apollo is the usual answer when you need contact data and competent sequencing at a fair price. It pairs a large B2B database with sequencing, tracking, analytics, and light CRM features. It won’t do everything, but it does the basics reliably.

11x

If you’ve grown past that stage and run a mature sales stack, 11x is worth a look. Its agent, Alice, researches prospects, writes personalised emails, and runs sequences alongside your CRM. It suits teams that already have process in place and want an AI layer on top.

Instantly

Instantly is the specialist for deliverability and volume. It supports unlimited sending accounts and comes with warm-up and deliverability tooling built in. If you already have your data sorted and just need sends to land, this is the narrow tool for that job.

How to run a fair test

Take Artisan and the one alternative that fits your constraint, whether that’s Clay for control, Apollo for data, or Instantly for sending. Run both on the same audience for ten days. You’ll have a clearer view at the end of that than any demo gives you.
