Role overview

As the first founding engineer at Iridium Credit, you will build and own production AI agents across browser, voice, and email. Working directly with founders from Morgan Stanley and Microsoft, you’ll solve complex verification challenges for bank-owned lenders, architecting reliable systems that process hundreds of millions in monthly invoice value for small businesses.

Iridium is hiring its first engineer, building alongside co-founders Anthony (built Morgan Stanley’s payment platforms, then underwriting systems in private credit) and Preesha (ex-Microsoft & Bloomberg ML). The problem: US businesses are owed ~$7 trillion in unpaid invoices and under 1% ever get access to invoice-based loans while they wait to be paid. Verifying and underwriting each one is still done manually, so small businesses drown waiting to get paid. Iridium is building an autonomous orchestration engine to automate the entire lending process using email, browser and voice agents, held to a bar high enough for our current lending customers moving $100M+ a month. EF-backed, multi-million seed just closed.

What you will do

  • Design and deploy sub-agent architectures that handle browser automation, CAPTCHAs, 2FA, and real-time voice interactions with accounts payable teams using Python.
  • Own features end-to-end as employee number four, making critical architectural decisions across the backend, frontend, and infrastructure to ensure bank-grade system reliability.
  • Collaborate directly with lenders and founders to understand commercial context and bridge the gap between technical builds and complex banking compliance requirements.

Who this is a fit for

  • Strong engineering generalist with deep Python experience and a track record of building reliable systems that work against the messiness of the real-world web.
  • Experience with browser automation (Playwright/Puppeteer), AI agents, or production ML, particularly systems requiring high reliability when operating within changing external environments.
  • High-growth mindset with the appetite for early-stage startup intensity, ready to step into an engineering lead role within the next twelve months as the team expands.

Why this role is remarkable

  • Work on a $7 trillion problem building “self-healing” AI agents and voice systems that navigate complex B2B dialpads and portals for bank-owned lenders.
  • Backed by a multi-million-dollar seed round from two major US VCs and Entrepreneurs First, with live contracts already processing $100M+ in monthly volume.
  • Transition with the company from London to New York in the coming months, with full US visa sponsorship and relocation costs covered by the company.
