AI and renewables are the 21st Century's two largest megatrends, and Volter is at the intersection. After launching in 2026, Volter has already scaled revenue 20x by building the first AI-native operating system for business energy. We're looking for a Senior Engineer to own the data foundations and ship the features that help UK businesses access cheaper, cleaner power.
You'll work directly with founders who have scaled multi-billion dollar companies and play a pivotal role in shaping our tech and culture. If you love building data-intensive systems and shipping end-to-end product features, join us in Old Street to power the energy transition.
Role overview
As a Senior Engineer, you will own the data foundations and product features powering Volter’s business energy platform. You’ll build high-scale pipelines for meter and market data while shipping end-to-end features across the stack. Working directly with proven founders, you will shape the technical architecture and culture of a rapidly growing, AI-first startup.
About Volter
Volter is on a mission to make energy cheaper, cleaner and simpler for businesses everywhere.
Volter is a London-based top-tier climate VC-backed B2B energy tech platform. The energy transition is a huge and vital opportunity, but it’s currently too difficult for commercial & industrial companies to achieve. Historically, the energy industry has been too opaque, complex and lacking in trust. We’re fixing that. We aim to be the “Octopus Energy for industry”: a modern tech platform providing new renewable energy products with radical transparency, accelerating deployment of renewables and helping customers cut costs and carbon without complexity.
What you will do
- Build and own end-to-end data pipelines for half-hourly meter reads, market prices, and weather data using Go, Python, and AWS.
- Design and manage data foundations, including complex time-series modeling and schema optimization, to ensure high-quality data for pricing and billing.
- Ship user-facing features from backend services to React-based frontends, partnering with data scientists to integrate advanced forecasting and pricing models into the product.
Who this is a fit for
- Proven track record as a broad-based software engineer who has owned complex, data-intensive systems in production environments.
- Deep expertise in data engineering, ETL pipelines, and time-series databases, with a strong grasp of both OLTP and OLAP architectures.
- Proficiency across the full stack (Go/Python, TypeScript/React, Terraform) and a workflow that natively integrates AI tools to maintain high engineering standards.
Why this role is remarkable
- Join a high-growth startup that has already achieved 20x revenue growth since its 2026 launch, tackling the energy industry’s massive forecasting and optimization challenges.
- Work directly with founders who have previously scaled businesses to multi-billion-dollar valuations, offering unparalleled mentorship and a front-row seat to building at scale.
- Shape an AI-native platform from the ground up, moving beyond legacy systems to create the first operating system for business energy that ensures cheap, secure, and clean power.
