AI Engineer at Raya Health

As the first dedicated AI hire at Raya Health, you will own the entire AI stack from agents to future SLMs. Working directly with the CTO, you’ll design the architecture and data pipelines necessary to support vulnerable users with compassionate, credible AI guidance. This is a high-impact, zero-to-one role in the underserved maternal health space.

• Design and build Raya’s core AI systems, including RAG-based agents, prompting strategies, guardrails, and evaluation frameworks for sensitive health interactions.
• Architect and implement robust data pipelines to capture high-value maternal health data that will fuel future proprietary model training and improvements.
• Ship end-to-end features, bridging the gap between the user-facing companion experience and the backend AI infrastructure while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

• Has 2–4 years of engineering experience with a track record of shipping production-level LLM systems such as agents, RAG, and APIs.
• Possesses a bias for action and the startup DNA required to thrive in a zero-to-one environment with high shipping velocity.
• Demonstrates strong software fundamentals and an interest in growing into deep AI architecture, model fine-tuning, and safety-critical health applications.

• Work directly with the CTO (formerly systems engineering at HP and AMD) with zero layers, total ownership, and high visibility.
• Join a mission-driven pre-Series A startup (HF0 W26) at the ground floor to tackle the underserved and growing maternal health market.
• Evolve from building production LLM agents and RAG systems today to training proprietary small language models (SLMs) specifically for maternal health.
