How the Jack & Jill referral program works, including valid introductions, attribution, commissions, payouts, and clawback.
Friends of Jack & Jill - Partner Terms
Version 1, dated 3 June 2026. Read this alongside our Privacy Policy.
Version 2 | 12 June 2026
A huge amount of how Jack and Jill have grown has come from warm introductions - founders telling other founders, talent leads recommending us to their network. We've never had a proper way to reward that. This is us fixing that.
These terms exist to make sure everyone knows how it works and what to expect. We've tried to keep them simple.
Who can join
Anyone with a Jack and Jill account can take part - candidates, hiring companies, and affiliates who join the Friends of Jack & Jill program without being either. We reserve the right to accept, pause, or remove any partner at any time - but we'll always try to do right by people who've been genuinely helpful. Current employees and contractors of Tinker Tailor Talent Ltd are not eligible to participate in the Friends of Jack and Jill partner program unless explicitly authorised in writing by a director of the company.
How you earn
You earn 20% of the fee Jill charges every time an introduction you make leads to a confirmed hire. That's 20% of our fee - not 20% of the candidate's salary.
You can introduce both sides of the marketplace:
- Refer a company - you earn on every hire that company makes through Jack and Jill during your commission window
- Refer a candidate - you earn when that candidate is placed in their first role through Jack and Jill during your commission window
You only earn on confirmed placements - when a candidate starts in a role, or when a hire is verified on the company side.
What makes an introduction valid
For an introduction to count, three things need to be true:
- The company or candidate you introduced had no prior relationship with Jack and Jill - meaning they weren't already a user, in conversation with us, or contacted by us in the last 90 days
- They take an affirmative action after your introduction - they click your link and sign up, or reply to Jack or Jill and sign up. A CC or a link share on its own doesn't qualify
- No other partner has already introduced them
We keep a list of existing users and active pipeline. If your introduction matches someone already on it, it won't qualify. You won't be able to query the list, but you're welcome to ask us before making an introduction if you're unsure.
When a referral becomes qualified
For companies: the referred company signs up and lists at least one active role with Jill. For candidates: the referred candidate signs up and completes their Jack profile. We confirm this automatically and let you know. You don't need to do anything.
Attribution
First qualified introduction wins. Whoever made the first valid, qualified introduction owns the commission for 12 months from that date. If two partners introduce the same company or candidate, the earlier timestamp wins.
A company referral is attributed when the first person from that company signs up to Jill. From that point, you earn 20% on every hire they make for the next 12 months. A candidate referral is attributed independently - if one person you introduce signs up as both a candidate and a company, each side follows its own attribution.
Our decision on attribution is final.
Your commission window
12 months from the date the introduced person made their Jack&Jill account. For company referrals, you earn on placements that company makes within the window. For candidate referrals, you earn on the candidate's first placement through Jack and Jill within the window. Placements after that don't attract commission, regardless of when you made the intro.
Getting paid
Payouts land 90 days after the candidate's employment contract starts. We reserve the right to extend this to 180 days as the program matures - we'll always give you notice before we do.
Any single payout above $5,000 is held for a quick human review before we release it. We'll let you know if there's a delay.
Tax is your responsibility. We'll provide any documentation required by law - including W-9 and 1099-NEC forms for US partners earning over $600 a year.
Clawback
If a placement unwinds during probation, the commission is clawed back. If we haven't paid out yet, we cancel it. If we have, we deduct it from future earnings. Direct invoice is always a last resort.
This applies even if the candidate and company part ways by mutual agreement. For senior placements with longer probation periods, we may extend the clawback window - we'll tell you if that applies.
What gets you removed
We want this to be a program people are proud to be part of. The following will result in immediate removal and clawback of any commissions paid:
- Coordinating with a referred party to manufacture or speed up a referral
- Providing false information at any point
- Anything we consider fraudulent or contrary to the spirit of what we're building
Our decision is final.
Conflicts of interest
If you refer a company you have a material interest in - as an employee, founder, investor or advisor - you are responsible for ensuring that referral complies with any applicable internal policies or conflict of interest obligations. Jack and Jill accepts no liability for referrals that breach third party agreements. Failure to disclose a material interest at the point of referral may result in removal from the program and clawback of any commissions paid.
Data and privacy
When you introduce someone to us, it's your responsibility to make sure you have the right to share their details. We process that data in line with our Privacy Policy.
When you CC us on an intro email, Jill will reach out directly to the person you've introduced. They need to respond and sign up before we process anything further.
If our pricing changes
You'll always earn 20% of whatever revenue your introductions generate. If our pricing model evolves, your share doesn't change. You win when we win.
If we end your participation
We can end your participation at any time. You'll still be paid commission on placements confirmed before that point. Introductions that hadn't yet converted won't be paid out.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
A final note
Partner commission is calculated as 20% of the placement fee actually charged by Jack & Jill for that hire. Where a placement is made under a promotional offer, free hire credit, committed plan, or any arrangement where no placement fee is charged, no commission is payable on that placement. Jack & Jill reserves the right to determine which fee structure applies to any given placement.
Jack & Jill reserves the right to amend, suspend or terminate these terms or the program at any time. Where possible we will give reasonable notice of material changes. Introductions made before any change will be honoured under the terms in place at the time they were made. Our decision on all matters relating to commission, attribution and fee structure is final.
FAQ
- When do I get paid?
- 90 days after the candidate's employment contract starts. Your dashboard shows the status and you'll get a notification when payment is released.
- What if the candidate leaves during probation?
- Commission is clawed back. If we haven't paid yet, it's cancelled. If we have, it comes off your future earnings.
- Is there a cap on earnings?
- Refer as many candidates as you like with no cap. For companies, you earn on every hire they make in the first 12 months after their first role listing.
- Can I refer both a candidate and a company?
- Yes. Your referral link works for both sides - companies and candidates who sign up through it are credited to you, and each is rewarded under its own track. You can even earn twice if the same introduction leads to a company hire and a candidate placement.
- What if someone I introduce is already in the network?
- Your introduction will show as ineligible.
- What if two partners introduce the same company or candidate?
- First valid introduction wins. Timestamp is the tiebreak. The second partner is notified their introduction is ineligible.
- What counts as a valid introduction?
- The referred party must be new to Jack and Jill and must take an affirmative action - click your link and sign up, or reply to Jill and sign up. A CC or link share alone doesn't qualify.
- Does my link expire?
- No. Your link is permanent. The commission window is 12 months from the date the introduced person made their Jack&Jill account.
- What if my payout is delayed?
- Payouts above $5,000 are held for a quick human review before release. You'll be notified of any delay.
- Do I need to do anything after making an intro?
- No. Jill takes it from there. Check your dashboard for status updates.
- Who should I introduce?
- Anyone whose network touches great companies or great people. When in doubt, make the intro - Jack and Jill will take it from there.
