Its UK team tripled in the year to June 2026, and n8n aims to have 200 people in the UK by 2029. Jan says outside headcount trackers run higher because partners and agencies list themselves as n8n staff.

RetoolJan started n8n on his own in Berlin in 2019. Before that, he built automation for artists at visual effects studios, on films such as Maleficent.
A remote-first place where long hours aren’t expected
The pace. Jan says n8n doesn’t ask anyone to work 18-hour days or seven days a week, because it wants people to stay for years without burning out. He also says everyone was very busy through the 2025 surge in demand.
Culture. Its Culture/Code asks for autonomy with accountability, lots of ambition and low ego. Titles matter less than ideas, and everyone has a direct line to leadership.
Where. Remote-first, with teams across Europe, the UK and parts of the US, and workspaces in Berlin, London and Boston. Jan says the London office sees more people than Berlin’s. Teams meet in person at least three times a year.
Time off. Vacation set by location, a budget for courses, conferences and build weeks, and flexibility for people caring for children or family.
Interviews. Jan says a live problem-solving session tells n8n more than a take-home task, since AI or someone else may have helped with a take-home.
More than 1,200 companies pay for its enterprise product
