Role overview

As the Founding Robotics Engineer at Caldera Dynamics, you will lead the development of our Isaac Sim environment to orchestrate complex manufacturing workcells. You’ll bridge the gap between simulation and reality, implementing trajectory execution, 6DOF pose estimation, and DAG-based execution models to automate the production of high-precision electromechanical components end-to-end.

Caldera is building fully autonomous manufacturing lines powered by general-purpose robotics, starting with electromechanical assemblies like drone motors and actuators. The future of manufacturing will look very different in the age of AGI and robotics. The companies that win will rebuild the design and manufacturing stack to allow rapid, autonomous iteration of physical hardware. We are building that platform.

What you will do

  • Build and manage the NVIDIA Isaac Sim environment, creating reliable CAD-to-sim pipelines for complex manufacturing assets and workcell layouts.
  • Design a DAG-based execution model to orchestrate the full manufacturing process across hydraulic presses, winding machines, and dual-arm platforms.
  • Implement robust 6DOF pose estimation, object tracking, and trajectory planning using ROS 2 and MoveIt to drive physical robots from simulated states.

Who this is a fit for

  • 2-4 years of experience building robotics software that spans both high-fidelity simulation (Isaac Sim) and production-grade physical hardware.
  • Proven expertise in ROS 2, MoveIt, and 6DOF pose estimation from point clouds or depth data using algorithms like FPFH or ICP.
  • Strong production-quality Python skills and the ability to operate as a solo engineer while managing cloud-based GPU infrastructure via AWS/Terraform.
