Overview
Connect Lever so the people you save, contact, pass on, or hire in Jack & Jill show up in the right job posting in your Lever pipeline, with no copying and pasting. It also reads back what happens in Lever, so a hire or an archive there shows up in your pipeline in Jill.
What it does
- Adds candidates to a Lever job posting as a new lead, with the source Jack & Jill, when an action you turned on fires.
- Moves candidates to the Lever stage that matches where they are, when your Lever pipeline has one.
- Archives or hires the opportunity when you pass on a lead or mark someone hired, using one of your own Lever archive reasons. A pass only archives a lead Jack & Jill added, while it is still at a lead stage.
- Reads changes back, so a hire, an archive, or a stage move in Lever shows up in Jill.
- Matches existing people by email, so someone already in Lever is reused rather than duplicated.
Prerequisites
- A Lever account, and a Lever Super Admin to approve the connection
- A Jack & Jill account with at least one active role, on a plan that includes ATS integrations
- At least one published or unlisted job posting in Lever to link a role to
- No other ATS connected. A company can connect one ATS at a time
Getting started
1. Accept the data processing agreement
The first time you connect an ATS, Jack & Jill asks you to review and accept its data processing agreement. It covers how Jack & Jill reads and writes candidate data in your ATS. You do this once.
2. Connect it in Jack & Jill
Open Integrations → Lever and choose Connect Lever. Lever asks you to sign in as a Super Admin and approve access, then sends you back to Jack & Jill to finish setup. You never type a Lever password or API key into Jack & Jill.
The approval screen lists seven permissions:
| Permission in Lever | What Jack & Jill uses it for |
|---|---|
offline_access |
Staying connected without asking you to sign in again every hour |

Letting Lever tell Jack & Jill when a candidate changes. This is not available to most accounts yet, so for now Jack & Jill picks up changes by reading Lever on a schedule |
Jack & Jill does not ask for notes, feedback, interviews, offers or requisitions. If you choose Cancel or Deny on the approval screen, nothing is connected, and you can start again at any time.
3. Choose who changes are attributed to
Lever needs a user on every change. Pick an active Lever user, for example your recruiting lead or a shared recruiting user. Their name appears next to what Jack & Jill does in the opportunity’s history in Lever.
4. Choose which actions sync
During setup you choose which pipeline actions change something in Lever.
| Event | What it does in Lever |
|---|---|
| Shortlist | Adds the candidate to the job posting as a lead, at your New lead stage |
| Pass on a lead | Archives an opportunity that Jack & Jill added, but only while it is still at a lead stage. Once your team or an automation moves it further in Lever, Lever owns it and Jack & Jill leaves it alone |
| Request intro | Moves the candidate to your Reached out stage, when you have one |
| Complete intro | Moves the candidate to your first interview stage, when you have one |
| Hire | Archives the opportunity with your Hired reason |
Lever stages have no type, so Jack & Jill reads the stage names. A stage Jack & Jill does not recognise is never used as a destination.
5. Link a role to a job posting
Open a role’s Configure Role → Integrations → Lever section and pick the matching Lever job posting. Only roles you link send candidates to Lever. Confidential postings do not appear in the list.
What you will see in Lever
A candidate you shortlist appears as an opportunity on the linked posting:
- Stage: New lead
- Source: Jack & Jill
- Details: name, email, phone number and LinkedIn profile, when Jack & Jill has them
- Attribution: the Lever user you chose in setup
When Jack & Jill moves or archives a candidate, the change shows in the opportunity’s history in Lever. A pass archives the opportunity (when it is still at a lead stage) with one of your own archive reasons, such as one that says the candidate withdrew or was not a fit. If none of your reasons fits, Jack & Jill skips the archive rather than pick one at random.
Jack & Jill does not post notes, create feedback forms, add tags, or attach resumes in Lever.
How syncing works
When an action you turned on fires, Jack & Jill:
- Looks for the person by email, and for an opportunity on the linked posting
- Adds them if they are not there, with the source Jack & Jill
- Moves, archives, or hires the opportunity when a later action calls for it
Jack & Jill reads Lever on a regular schedule to pick up changes made there, so a hire, an archive or a stage move in Lever shows up in Jill a little later. Faster notifications from Lever are not available to most accounts yet. Jack & Jill only archives opportunities it added itself, and only while they are still at a lead stage, so people your team sourced elsewhere, or moved on in Lever, are never touched.
What it does not do yet
- Notes, feedback forms and tags. Jack & Jill adds none of them.
- Resumes. Lever only accepts a resume at the moment an opportunity is created, and Jack & Jill does not send one.
- Interviews and offers. Jack & Jill does not schedule interviews or touch offers.
- Confidential postings. They are not visible to the integration.
- Lever’s EU data centre. Only Lever’s standard region is supported for now.
- Choosing the source. The source is always Jack & Jill. There is no setting to change it.
- Stages that do not exist. If your Lever pipeline has no Reached out or interview stage, Jack & Jill does not move the candidate and does not guess.
FAQ
Who does Lever show as having made the change? The Lever user you chose during setup.
Will this create duplicate candidates? Jack & Jill looks the person up by email first, and checks the posting for an existing opportunity before it adds one. Lever merges contacts that share an email address.
How do I find the candidates Jack & Jill added? Filter on the source Jack & Jill in Lever.
What happens if I disconnect and reconnect? Your Lever data stays as it is. Reconnecting starts syncing again from that point.
Can I change which events sync after setup? Yes. Open Integrations → Lever and toggle them.
What if I add a new role after setup? Link it to a Lever job posting. Candidates on that role sync after the link exists.
The connection stopped working. What do I do? Open Integrations → Lever and choose Connect Lever again. This is needed if access was removed in Lever, or if the connection has not been used for about 90 days.
Does Jack & Jill ever see my Lever password? No. You sign in on Lever’s own page, and Jack & Jill only receives a token that you approved.
What can Jack & Jill access in my Lever? Only the seven permissions on the approval screen, listed above.
